A Taste of Revenge

“Shields at forty percent we can’t take another hit like that.”

Eliana fumes at KO, then issues commands in her native language.

“Damn KO you’re way too reckless, Samson automates zanimat'sya Samson ataka.”

It would seem a solar flare erupted in close proximity to the location once occupied by Samson; it was its departure at full power. The Gen. seven engines give the ability to compress space, however at extremely high speeds and the gravitational loads they produce; humanoid life forms suffer from nausea. Eliana preprogrammed the ship to take action on its own. Time to Lobnas was two minutes a trip that would normally take six minutes at normal max speeds.

*********
Samson just left unannounced, their telemetry shows Lobnas as its destination and… you better have a look at this.”

Sobbash and Risch approach the display the acceleration is almost off the scale. Risch faces Sobbash and says.

“You wondered what the new engines were capable of. We’re about to get a real life combat test of the ship and its systems. I hope Eliana remembered the course on high speed space travel, or that ship will show up in one piece with a crew unable to function.”

Telemetry streamed from Samson it was at that time data from Illusion arrived and…

“I am Doral daughter of Dustain; I wanted you to know who your executioner was going to be. You killed my father and now I shall exact my revenge.”

*”Is anybody operational?”
“Sorry KO, Dai and I never saw it coming… Noel’s… I don’t know where she is.”
“We’re on emergency backups, Defiance’s couplings have failed.”*

The image along with the discrete link brought silence to the room. Risch stared at the data coming from Samson he noticed that the ship was preprogrammed to attack the energy signature upon arrival no matter what might be in the area. A gutsy yet foolish move if a friendly ship happened to be in-between them… then he noticed that Samson was receiving data from Illusion, targeting data motioning to Sobbash he said.

“Eliana is a fast learner may be too fast. She’s been following Illusion since they left Dorian space and programmed Samson to interface with Illusion’s fire control AI. That means Leo has autonomous control of Samson’s weaponry. Eliana has everything powered up and ready to fire once a target is acquired, damn smart and dangerous lady she is.”

*********
“Scan the enemy ships.”

“Scanning; not a one of them can do us any harm. We’ve damaged their main energy systems, this ships is truly remarkable.”

“Charge the weapon full power.”

“We’ll have to drop shields to do so…”

“Then do so, you said they can’t hurt us. I want them atomized.”

“Forty seconds to full power…”

“Energy readings starboard side less than ten thousand kilometers…

“SHIELDS NOW!”

“Regenerating, at sixty percent, a ship dropping out of light speed and firing.”

*********
*”KO we’ll need another three minutes before we can move I have partial shields but against that thing.”
“Concentrate on moving over shields.”
“Captain, energy readings port beam five hundred and ninety thousand kilometers.”
“Something is dropping out of…what the…”*

Samson appeared and launched a barrage, it struck the dreadnought a half a dozen times before they cloaked and disappeared.

“Captain I have a damage report when you’re ready.”

Leo’s voice echoed about the bridge, KO turned to his interface and said.”

“Damage report, our damage or…”

“Samson hit the enemy six times, damage was done to fire control, the high power reactor, and probably their star drive. Unfortunately they were able to regenerate partial shields or the attack would have been fatal. They are leaving a trail behind them…”

“What’s Samson’s present status?”

“The ship suffered minor damage, mostly from rapid deacceleration. My scan shows the crew did suffer from high speed sickness. I will also note their Captains decision of placing the AI’s in charge and letting me operate the ship once it arrived was the correct solution.”

*”Eliana, KO can you hear me?”
“I hear you don’t yell okay?”
“What’s your status?”
“I feel like we’ve been on an all night bender, half my crew is either puking or passed out. You owe me big time KO and when I collect…”
“Can you get to Defiance and drag them to this location Noel’s dead in space?”
“I barely trust myself talking to you moving this ship it’s going to take sometime…”
“Captain I have control of the ship I can do what you ask.”
“Alright Leo execute a rescue.”
“KO, Kenesh, I’m able to move Dai says another five minutes what should we do?”
“Everyone come to this location I’ve got shields because the ship decided self preservation was more important than the ability to move. Once everyone is operational we’ll have at it again.”
“Yeah have at it… KO if I didn’t feel so lousy right now…”
“Okay Eliana you win this round I’ll be less aggressive.”
“Only in your dreams.”*

*********
“Admiral, emergency communications from Commodore Vekk aboard the Magnus.”

Magnus weren’t they…”

“Yes sir, Lobnas Prime; encrypted video coming over as well.”

Video of the incident appears first the dreadnought striking at the combined fleet, Samson sudden appearance followed by its attack, and then the audio continues.

“The dreadnoughts first attack left the fleet immobilized; those Zon ships that were able escaped the area. The dreadnought then tried to charge its main weapon, that’s when the Samson arrived. A detailed scan is contained in this message. At this moment we are following the dreadnought at a safe distance.

Although damaged it’s making almost light speed on the following course. My plan is to shadow them until reinforcements arrive. We will not engage in combat. I can report the second dreadnought was destroyed in the initial attack.”

The information streamed upon the main viewer, the Admiral took in what he saw and said.

“Forward this information to Shahrazad, signal Vekk, well done and get central command on the link I have an idea I’d like to share.”

*********
Robert just entered the command center when the data from the Suran’s arrived. He and Risch studied it and started a conversation.

“Same thing that happened here, what ever that first barrage contains it momentarily interrupts our ships main reactors.”

Samson’s arrival and that barrage, I knew it was awesome on paper but.”

“On paper always pales to the real thing, but even though we had the advantage they managed to do only moderate damage. I wonder what those shields are like, we need to capture that ship and study it.”

“Robert I don’t see that happening as much as I would like. Right now we have a more pressing issue. Defiance was damaged and Noel wants a piece of your hide for, in her words, ‘neglecting repairs in favor of getting your toy on line’.”

“Power couplings, I knew I should have upgraded those sooner. Let me talk to Arisa I believe she has everything on Discovery to fabricate replacements.”

“So you plan on getting her angry as well… I don’t want to be you when they get back.”

“Noel, Arisa or Lily one of them is going to be upset with me I’ll deal with it later, right now…”

“Yeah, son, fix your ‘mothers’ ship before your wife finds out.”

“Thanks Dad, I really appreciate your continued support.”

Flustered Robert heads to an empty console and starts a conversation with Arisa. Sobbash watches her son and then approaches Risch.

“You were a little hard on him, granted he did shuffle repair schedules had he not, Samson wouldn’t have made it to the rescue and…”

“I know, but he needs a reality check every so often, he should be glad it was me and not Lily or Noel. My intervening does not mean he’s going to avoid getting an earful, it’ll just be tempered that’s all.”

“I see given the information the Suran’s sent and Cassie’s continuous conversations with the Alliance I believe capturing that ship may become an option. Granted it would not be my first option and I made those points clear however if there is technology that renders ours useless…”

“We need to examine it then find and correct our weakness or…”

“One day someone’s going to waltz in here and take us down hard.”

They return to the front of the room where Cassandra is finishing an impromptu meeting with the Alliance ministers. Turing around she says.

“The Magnus is shadowing our enemy, both our ships and the Zon ships, when operational, will pursue the dreadnought. The Imperial Fleet will replace the Suran forces in the system and provide protection. The Suran’s want in on this and their hierarchy has given them approval to seek out and contain it. Our forces will try to capture the ship and return it for inspection, however although it would be preferable to capture the ship if capture proves too risky then it’s expendable. Right now this all hinges on how soon we’re back operational and where the enemy decides to go.”

*********
“Captain, Samson has us in tow; Arisa aboard Discovery is on line and wishes to speak to you.”

“I’ll take it in the ready room forward it there.”

“Yes Captain.”

Moving to the ready room and adjusting the emergency lighting to a comfortable level Noel opens the link.

“Fancy seeing you here, how’s Plakia doing?”

“She was conscious upon arrival then we left immediately. If something was a miss we should have heard about it by now.”

“That's reassuring news. Dai’s pounding a rut in the bridge this will be enough information to calm her and Kenesh’s nerves. The reason I called is I’ve spoken with Robert and have fabricated replacement power couplings. Granted they’ll not be perfect but they will be a damn sight better than what you presently have. Open shuttle bay five and have your crew don full life-support gear. This should take a half hour to accomplish… I hope…”

“Did you happen to mention to Robert…”

“Didn’t have to, he’s well aware of how ‘unhappy’ you are. My only hope is we get you operational before your daughter finds out… when pregnant your species tends to get rather um ‘upset’ when things don’t go as planned. Am I correct?”

“I believe its something I passed along to her. Sobbash and Lafiel didn’t seem to have this issue but then again I wasn’t with them on a daily basis either.”

“Get ready, I’m entering the bay and I’ll make the announcement when I pull the plug.”

“Take your time and do it right eh?”

“I promise you’ll have mains before you know it.”

*********
Meanwhile aboard the platform the survivors from the fifteenth fleet’s flagship have gathered. Atosuryua, with a copy of their log in hand, begins questioning those gathered. Hiding in the wings a senior Abh fleet officer watches the proceedings with great interest.

“It’s your contention that a ship from Shahrazad opened fire on you with out warning.”

“It is I wish you had access to the ships log they would…”

Laying the log in front of her Atosuryua continued.

“I’m glad you said that. It seems the ships log greatly disagrees with your statement.”

Grabbing the log she reads it and says.

“Not possible this should have …”

“Been destroyed in the explosion of the proximity mine you planted? The mine exploded, one of our senior officers was killed. Now who are you working with and what are you after?”

The exec went silent, not phased in the least. Atosuryua motioned to a couple of council members as they approached she continued.

“Last chance to answer my question, these are telepaths, you can answer of your free will, or we will drag the information out of you. Although I can’t guarantee your mental state afterwards.”

As the link was established the exec relented. She started naming names and the reason for her actions. It would seem there were those within the Empire that wanted change.

A change to what had been, this all lead back to Dustain’s daughter. Her plan was to divide the galaxy and while everyone was fighting with each other she’d take over. After she was finished the exec was lead away. Atosuryua moved towards the shadows and said.

“You’ll have a transcript shortly; it would seem you have a little housekeeping ahead of you.”

“Thank you, I will see to it that your ships are given back their freedom. Yet it’s disturbing how she managed to infiltrate so high into our social order. I’ll check in on my niece then I will bid you adieu.”

*********
“You’ve got mains again and I’ve adjusted the number two reactor. I’d give the ship about twenty minutes before you try anything intensive. Your grid management AI is getting use to having full power available. I’m heading back, take care.”

Arisa words brought some comfort although Noel was puzzled by the Zon’s sudden retreat. Now that she had power a little chat with Minchi was in order.

“Let KO know we’re almost operational I’ll be in my cabin should you need me.”

Leaving the lift Noel makes it to the visiting officer’s quarters, takes a seat at the terminal and places a call to Minchi. It’s placed on delay probably because she does not want to discuss anything with anyone. Noel waits patiently, before long a rather frazzled Minchi appears on the display the conversation starts.

“Hello Noel long time no…”

“Can it Minchi, why did you retreat at the first sign of…”

“Miss Blunt, if you must know, our agreement was to confuse them and leave the actual combat to you people. However when the first ship returned all bets were off…”

“Fine, now what are your plans? You’re joining with us or heading home?”

“Still deciding I’ll let you know one way or the other…”

The link closes and Noel opens the muted one from KO.

“You heard? Was that really your plan to have her play bait while you snuck in for the kill?”

“Not exactly, but close, her bugging out at the first sign of trouble wasn’t in the agreement and then they did not offer any assistance…”

“We’d be better off without them in my opinion, nothing like a rogue fleet doing as they damn well please.”

“I agree the Suran’s are tracking the ship and their fleet from Shahrazad is enroute. Best we wait and go in as a combined force.”

“You realize Eliana’s…”

“I’ll deal with her AFTER this is over, Noel I understand I screwed up and almost got all of us killed. I even ignored the ship and have been sternly lectured for it… so cut me some slack.”

“Just remember that you have and don’t make the same mistake again.”

“Yeah yeah I wish Eliana was as understanding as you are.”

“Actually she IS… you just haven’t figured it out. YET.”

*********
Lafiel was about to contact Lakfakalle when Cassandra’s message arrived. Reading it she opened a direct link and said.

“What in the stars is going on? Plakia injured, Decca Commander dead, our ships released? Cassie, explain this?”

“No time to go into detail just stay where you are, everything is fine, with in acceptable parameters, I’ll keep you apprized of the situation. But mother, I want you to stay put and have conveyed my wishes to not only father but your escort fleet. Love you both talk to you later…”

The link closes and Lafiel slams her fists on the desk top. Locating Jinto she vents in a most appropriate way her frustration to which Jinto says.

“She’s your daughter, you really expected anything less? Face it if Plakia enquired as you have what would your reaction have been?”

A lecture was something Lafiel was not interested in. Jinto was right but she was not going to admit it, at least not at this moment, leaving him she took another walk to cool off.

*********
“Um KO, you better have a look at this.”

KO approached Sarah and looked at the data the probe sent to the depot was relaying, several images caught her attention. Opening a link to Dai she said.

“You’re closest to the storage depot feel like taking a little trip there? Got some images I’d like investigated.”

“Yeah repairs are going as planned I’ll grab Ariel and we’ll transport over. I figure we should arm ourselves?”

“Probe showed no life signs but you never know I’d go armed to the teeth but that’s me.”

“On our way there I’ll keep a link open just incase.”

*********
“Captain I’ve just scanned the depot… a breathable atmosphere is there, gravity shows point five-six of normal.”

Ariel entered the room armed with a laser rifle and took note of Dai only bearing a side arm and said.

“You said we were transporting over and to come prepared, but you’re only bringing a side arm? What if …”

“We encounter something substantial?”

Opening her jacket a half dozen grenades are stowed in the pockets, pulling it closed again she said.

“We’ll blast our way out, if necessary, you know how I dislike bulky items.”

Ariel agreed and the transport commenced, arriving in what looked like an entrance way, a locked door greeted them. Opening a link to the ship Dai inquired.

“Chief you put us on the wrong side of a locked door…”

“Captain, scans are confused from there on I didn’t want you to arrive into something that might…”

“I understand I wish you had said something before we came here.”

“I did but you two were busy comparing wardrobes…”

“I see we’ll proceed from here, leaving the link active.”

Next to the door Ariel has found a flat panel scanner it would seem the door has a force field behind it. Noting that it is a hand scanner she said.

“It’s a modified scanner; it seems to be coded not only to optical recognition, but a secondary DNA retrieval. This isn’t going to be an easy open I fear.”

Dai scanned the device showing the results to Ariel she said.

“It’s been used recently; if you take note of the DNA trace readings you’ll see the user was female. I just wish there was a better impression but it looks like…”

Passing her hand over the scanner it reacted beeped three times and turned red. Dai scanned again and said.

“Give it a go if these readings are correct I think…”

Before she could finish Ariel placed her hand on the plate, it beeped once turned green and the door opened. Venturing inside they found repair parts and documents galore. Coming to another plate Ariel pressed it and another room was exposed. This room looks like an office; more computer screens displaying data concerning the dreadnoughts were discovered. Gathering as much data as they could they exited this room and headed down a long corridor. There they found a large two piece horizontal sliding door. Activating the door it opened to expose an underground hanger with access to space. It was here the dreadnoughts were maintained, scanning the area they returned to corridor and found a panicked chief looking for them.

“Captain you disappeared we lost all signs from you. Where have you been?”

“Somewhere very interesting, very interesting indeed. Bring us home chief I’ll explain in person.”

*********
“Magnus Captains log Vekk recording: Five hours have passed and we’re still trailing the dreadnought. I’m fairly sure they know we’re back here but they’ve taken no action to dissuade us. About two hours ago they jettisoned some debris, we slowed and scanned it, and it was mostly damaged ship parts however we also discovered three bodies among the debris. Our first thought was to recover the bodies but they were highly contaminated so a scan was made and forwarded on to command for their review. It my opinion that Samson did more damage than initially anticipated however I also feel the enemy has enough reserve to cause more damage than we could handle. We’ve heard from the support fleet they are about to rendezvous with the Shahrazad fleet in Lobnas we await their arrival. In her majesty’s services Commodore Vekk.”

*********
“Screw it sis I’m not sticking around any longer, Noel didn’t say it but I know she thinks we are neck deep in this and that we might have been part of a plan to lure their ships to this location. I’m gathering our chess pieces and heading home period. We’ll have it out when I get there.”

“Minchi I have nothing to say, if you truly believe that is the case then come back. However… never mind, bring the fleet home I’ll work things out with Cassandra, I hope…”

*********
“KO, Minchi is bugging out, projected course takes them directly to the Zon home world.”

Moving to Sarah’s position she watches as they leave and comments.

“Strange, did we receive communications from them?”

Before Sarah can answer the common link comes to life.

“You didn’t but I’ve had a chat with Minchi this action doesn’t surprise me.”

“I know about the initial contact, you’ve spoken to her since then?”

“Correct when I told her the Suran’s were coming she took that as her cue to bug out. I told you she wasn’t going to be dependable I wish I had been wrong but we are better off without her… Cassie and Tara can have at the finer points later but for now she was acting rogue something we do not need.”

“I guess it can’t be helped, the Suran’s will be here shortly, I understand Dai has something she wants to share and is waiting for the Suran’s as well. I’m assuming you’re fully functional now that Arisa patched you up…”

“I OBJECT to the word PATCHED… Defiance is probably better than new, I don’t do patch work KO just remember that.”

Muting the link KO looks at Sarah and says.

“You know when I screw up, as of late, I really do it up proud, and it’s too much for me to handle at this time. I’ll leave it up to you and Lyra to manage. If you need me I’ll be in my cabin…”

KO leaves the bridge and Sarah speaks to Lyra.

“She’s been pushing herself pretty hard lately I hope this will bring her to a more ‘normal’ KO.”

“After the reckless way we charged into the last battle I wondered if she’s taken on a death complex. Another minute and we would have been severally damaged. I know the chain of command but as executive officer I must advise you if she continues on this present course. I’ll have no choice but to start disobeying her orders.”

Sarah had opened the common link before she started conversing with Lyra; the reaction to Lyra’s comments brought mixed expressions from within the fleet.

*“I wouldn’t call it a death wish, for if it was we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”

“Exactly I tend to agree with Dai; however her actions of late have been um rather…”

“Unusual, Kenesh, is that the expression you’re looking for? I my opinion I think she’s sensed something that has her mind very preoccupied. Granted I’ve just arrived but given the conversations I’ve had not only with KO, but what Minchi implied, it might not be a bad idea to ‘watch over’ KO for awhile. The Suran’s will be here soon, by the time we’re ready to go maybe she’ll have rested enough, I don’t know, however as senior officer I really don’t want to take anything for granted either. Injured as it may be the dreadnought still could leave us wreckage floating in space if we’re not careful.”

“I tend to agree with Noel but, wrestling command from KO…”

“No Sarah you misunderstood what I was saying… what I mean in plain language is IF KO is impaired then it will be up to you and Lyra to determine that, and IF that be the case you’ll be responsible for Illusion and I’ll manage the rest of the fleet.”*

Eliana sat quietly listening to the present conversation, most of her crew had recovered and listening to the concerns expressed she decided to let ‘them’ deal with KO if necessary. She would make sure the dreadnought would not see another cycle even if it costs her Samson and her life.

“Captain medical reports we’re at ninety-five percent crew availability engineering reports we’re ready for combat.”

“Very well inform Defiance of our condition and await further orders and give the crew a ‘well done’ from me. Everyone really pulled through.”

“Captain did you mean Illusion?”

“No we are reporting to Defiance, Illusion will find out sooner or later.”

“Aye Captain as you wish.”

*********
“Your Highness.”

“Governor, look Cassie let’s dispense with the formalities. I’ve known you all of your life. We need to talk as old friends not political allies.”

“Amanda Lynn Trevek, Queen of the Suran. Okay Mandy have it your way, what do you want to talk about?”

“Our future, these reoccurring clashes with ‘older’ yet more modern technology, we need to find the cause and stop it. To that end we’ve been researching those old ‘star charts’ we found decades ago. Figuring their age at four hundred and fifty years readjusting them to the current star maps and plotting what should be the approximate location of the old warring states. We’ve made a rather unnerving discovery. The universe moves, is constantly in flux, never stays in one place for long, expanding and contracting at will. We believe that through movement of several gravitational wells the old warring states galaxies are actually moving towards us and if any of those planets still support life and contain current, or more scarily, advance technology. You are getting the picture right Cassie?”

“Resoundingly clear Mandy… so what are you after?”

“We need to capture that ship and squeeze every bit of data out of it. Find out who built it, where it was built, and its age. Cassie I fear that what we are going to find is that those ships were part of a space armada centuries ago and I’m not talking five or ten we could be looking at hundreds or even thousands of identical vessels. Vessels aside if there is still an intelligent life form or forms we need to ascertain if they are peaceful or pose a threat to what we’ve established. We’ve got some information concerning the workings of that dreadnought. The commander of our fleet will share it with your fleet officers on their arrival but in my opinion we ‘must’ capture the ship intact.”

“You realize that the Alliance has approved a ‘capture’ of the dreadnought.”

“With the option of destroying it if it can’t be contained… our fleet has orders to ‘capture’ it and not to allow its destruction. To that end we do have a plan to disable it.”

“This plan fails and we’re defenseless, everything Shahrazad has is at that location. I’ve placed all of our ‘eggs’ in one basket. Mandy this is too risky especially since you’re not giving me any substantial details to work with.”

“I ask that you wait till our fleet has arrived and hear them out… that’s all I’m asking can you do that Cassie.”

“I’ll listen and I’ll be open-minded, but no will mean no.”

“Thank you Cassie.”

The link closes and Cassie looks a Sari, she shows little emotion as she opens a link to the fleet. Noel has taken tactical control of all ships except Illusion. Sarah and Lyra are controlling the ship, while KO is resting.

“You’ve heard my conversation with the Suran Queen. I’m opening the discussion, the topic is; can we realistically capture that ship without massive casualties?”

“Sarah here, Lyra and I have gathered all of the data from recent attacks and analyzed them. Logistically speaking we stand a sixty, forty chance of success. Unless there is data from the Suran’s we don’t know about I do not like the odds. Also something else, Samson really hurt that ship however it’s been six hours since they escaped not knowing what repairs were accomplished we could be facing a fully operational ship that really skews the odds.”

“Cassie, Kenesh, something else you should consider, when I first heard Vekk’s voice, it rang a bell. Doing a bit of research my hunch is confirmed. Vekk is part of the Suran security services and his ship I believe is a reconnaissance ship which would explain the data sent back it was specific in detail.”

I’m with Sarah we clobbered that ship and did only moderate damage. Capture might be an option but I’m not seeing it. True there might be dozens of those ships around but if that’s true maybe we should find one on our own and take it into custody… I’ll wait to see what the Suran and Dai have to say.”

“Cassie I think Eliana speaks for all of us. While not dismissing the possibility of capture unless we really have an ‘ace’ or two up our sleeve, I suggest we vaporize it and find one of our own.”

“We’ll wait and see but if you get to the decision of them or us… there will be no options.”

*********
“Hey sis how is it going?”

“Okay, Cassie’s hanging in there and mom’s still at the doctors. How goes it with you?”

“Since grandmother arrived everything is a lot more organized… Something is bugging KO and I was quite worried until… How’s Plakia doing?”

“She’s stable; Sean hasn’t left her side since they arrived… Jinto and Lafiel are okay I just got another inquiry about the present situation and Cassie sent her an update… stay safe sis… I have to go now.”

The link closes and Sarah talks to Lyra.

“What was your impression of my sister’s conversation?”

“She’s under a lot of stress, much more than you are but I figured you’ve already sensed that.”

“Has there been anything more from the Magnus?”

“Nothing since the report about the debris and bodies, that was almost two hours ago.”

“Where is the Suran fleet now?”

“They are in the system presently about the third moon of the sixth planet should I contact them?”

“No, keep monitoring them and if something comes up let me know. I’m going to my cabin via KO’s you have the bridge.”

Sarah leaves the bridge and Leo addresses Lyra.

“Repairs are complete Orion has been monitoring the Suran’s progress. Sixty – forty, where did you find those figures we’ve got it at fifty – fifty best advantage to us. You really want to interface with that ship don’t you?”

“What I want doesn’t enter into the equation, the possibility of there being a ‘fleet’ of those somewhere where we haven’t found them that’s my motivation.”

Lyra I find you logic is flawed I suggest you do a complete diagnostic before our next encounter…”

“Try this flawed logic on for size… we are the last of our kind something made us almost extinct… if that something was those dreadnoughts then we ‘owe’ it to Pegasus and the rest to set the record straight.”

Lyra entered standby mode and Leo communicated with Orion.

“She has a point however…”

“I’m guessing she’s out for blood this time; something she’s gotten from interfacing with KO all these years. I’ll keep monitoring the situation hopefully we’ll not have to intervene.”

Orion I hope we don’t have to, you remember the last time she tried to go rogue…”

“Yeah…”

*********
Sarah stood outside KO’s cabin scanner in hand it shows elevated brain wave patterns coming from KO. Finding Lyra off line she instructs Orion to open the cabin door. The door opens and KO is laying on her bunk covered in sweat and having what can only be assumed to be a ‘nightmare’ of epic proportions. Sarah takes a step towards her and…

*********
Noel is reviewing the data from the last attack when…

“Captain, detecting weapons discharge aboard Illusion receiving emergency beacon…”

Moving to a near by transport pad she says.

“Chief, transport me to the location of the discharge and have a security team follow.”

She vanishes in a flash of light. Arriving she finds Sarah on the floor, KO laying in bed a weapon clenched in her fists.

“SARAH!”

"Ah! You don't know my name?
Its very simple, Lafiel you shall say.
In return I'd like to call you Jinto."
